Deeds not Words

On Tuesday we visited Namaka Public school to play our first rugby games. As the boys walked into the school they were greeted with loud cheers from over 500 Fijian kids ready for assembly. The boys were treated like movie stars, they were clearly overcome by the occassion and surprised by the welcome they received.

The principal addressed the students and players, welcoming Newport warmly to Namaka. This was followed by a performance song by the Namaka students, and then the singing of the Newport Rugby Song led by Jack Slack Smith. It was unanimous, the choir master needs to be taken to task, our singing prowess was no match against the perfect Pacific pitch of 500 children.
